AGRICULTURAL STEWARDS SCHOLARSHIP
ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP
Since over 65% of Green Lake's drainage area is agricultural, we have to think beyond our lake and think about the 107 square miles that drain into Big Green. One of our initiatives, Project Green Acres, focuses on building a community of farmers who are dedicated to protecting Green Lake.
As part of this project, the GLA offers Agricultural Stewards Scholarships to farmers and students to learn land practices that are both environmentally and economically smart.
These scholarships allow those who are interested in conservation practices the chance to attend conferences to learn about tested, reliable, sustainable methods that benefit the farm, the land, and the water in our community—with the hope that they will become the next agricultural stewards to protect the Green Lake watershed.
