About the Event
Become a citizen scientist! Road salt is everywhere during winter months. It keeps us safe on roads and sidewalks, but it can also pose a threat to fish and wildlife as well as human health. As a citizen scientist, you will test chloride concentrations in a stream within the Green Lake watershed this winter and share results through a convenient app. These results play a key role in helping to reduce the use and pollution of road and water softener salt.
Volunteers will need to test the same stream location four times over the course of the winter. Taylor Haag, our Watershed Engagement Manager, will be in contact with you to find a convenient location for you to sample and with further instructions. Thank you for working with us to gather critical information to keep Green Lake clean!
